In Isaiah 7 the Lord spoke to the King Ahaz saying "Ask a sign of the Lord your God," Ahaz for debatable reasons would not ask a sign of the Lord. We have here a nation who had completely rebelled against God. They were "busy." (See Chapter 1) They had begun to go about and operate according to the wisdom of their own eyes. If something made sense to them...they did it. They were "estranged" from the Lord. Isn't it interesting how God gives Ahaz a sign anyway...Isaiah 7:14 "Therefore Lord himself will give you a s sign. Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel." The title applies directly to Jesus for God would come to us by way of a child born in Bethlehem. GOD WITH US. It is as if God by giving this sign is saying to his children, "remember me my dear ones, remember me."
Take time out today, center yourself in Jesus, the hope of all nations. Let him set your heart's agenda. Let him calm you where you are riled. Let him rebuke you where you are errant. Let him counsel you where you are confused.
