The Robins are back and spring is in the air! Do you love springtime? I don’t know anyone who does not love spring time. What is not to love about winter’s passing? As cold weather gives way to spring’s first teaser days we know that warm weather is not far away. The first few warm days seem to put a little pep in our step.
People begin making preparations for what is to come. Some people fire up the tiller and begin working the garden. Some people begin to pick up sticks while others trim the shrubbery. Some take long walks or air up the kids bicycle tires. Some people feel compelled to go to the park, shoot some hoops, or get the ball gloves out. Some uncover the grill and burn their favorite meat of the season. You get the idea.
Spring has a way of firing us up. We quickly realize how much we need to get done. When the time comes in which we need to get “the more” done….... We can easily become overwhelmed and default to crazy stress mode, but it doesn’t have to be that way.
Spring is a time of new beginnings, which is a perfect opportunity to put first things first. What would happen if we worked smarter this year than we did last year? What would happen if we committed ourselves to the most important things? I call this working smart. I believe that if we predetermine what we will pour ourselves into now, then we will be able to work smarter and more efficiently later. If we are not careful, we can fall captive to our busy schedules. Life has a way of taking over and we find ourselves running here, running there, taking care of this, that, and the other thing. Some of this is necessary and some, not so necessary. Ask the Lord to show you what He wants for you in this new beginning.
This is your opportunity to make a fresh start. Let's strive together to put Matthew 6:33 into practice. Christ says, "seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well."
Smile! It's springtime!
