Why We Support The Global Church
Shiloh Wesleyan Church. Part of our name as a church is Wesleyan, which is part of a bigger, global church. But why are we part of a bigger church? Why not just focus on the local church?
First off the “Wesleyan church is a Protestant, evangelical, holiness denomination with a rich heritage. We have seen it as our special mission to emphasize the message of "full salvation from all sin." We teach that a victorious Christian life is possible for all believers through the experience of both forgiveness of sins and the filling of the Holy Spirit in our lives.” This is who we are as Wesleyans.
So why are we a part of a bigger church? Jesus told us in Matthew 28:18-20 that “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of ALL nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” He told us that we need to be looking beyond just ourselves, loving all people as He loves them, and spread the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the whole world. As a part of a bigger church than the one on the corner of 4 B and King Road, we are saying that we support the global mission of the church. That we are following Jesus’ command to make disciple of ALL nations, not just Marshal County. We are a part of church that has local congregations in over 90 nations over 5,000 churches that support, encourage, and strengthen each other.
While we are just one local church, we support a global and heavenly mission. We are fulfilling the great commission by equipping believers, developing leaders, multiplying churches, and transforming communities on a global scale. We are a part of something greater than ourselves.
